Every serious dater should be equipped with
one of these instant messaging programs. Some of these listings are purely
for instant messaging software or as I call it 'flirtware' and some are
for online party sites which are more flirt zones rather than dating sites.
Flirtware can be extremely successful, however it generally seems more
suitable for finding brief encounters rather than long term relationships,
although this is more than possible too.
How it Works:
You start by downloading one of the free programs listed below. Once
you have gone through the registration process, which entails adding details
about yourself, you are then able to search for other users on the system,
be they currently online or not and by specific criteria that you can
specify. Once you have found someone that you like the look of and if
they are online (which you can tell) you can send them a message there
and then. For men doing this, don't use cheesy chat up lines or overtly
sexual openers as believe me it's all been heard before and you will get
nowhere. Keep it clean and friendly at first and you will do alot better,
believe me.

The mother of all IM (instant messaging) software. Enormous user base.

Odigo 
Overall Odigo is a good IM choice as it can communicate with ICQ aswell,
however it's user base tends to be more Eastern European / USA based rather
than UK

FaceParty
An excellent place to hangout and flirt. Faceparty is like a dating
site with profiles, instant massaging, chat, email, only it is different.
It makes no claim for being a dating site hence the stigma often associated
with joining a dating site is removed, hence there are members from all
walks of life looking for all kinds of different things from just friendship
through to no-strings sex. Free members can post there own profile and
have a limited amount of features but paid members have access to others'
adult naked pics and more messaging options.
This can be a good site, but beware, there are many fake profiles designed
to lure you in to paid webcam sites and the like. These are quite easily
spotted. If a picture looks too sexy. for example a girl in just her underwear
and with a location like 'in ur bed' or similar, you can be pretty sure
it's a fake. Also, the majority of profiles with 'adult content' are fakes.
